School Room

A couple of mornings ago I was in the kitchen getting some milk ready for the boys before getting them up. Then “Bump” and wail. Charlie managed to climb out of his crib and fall on the floor. He wasn’t broken, just surprised, and probably a little sore in the derriere. But it finalized something that had been brewing in my mind for a while. It was time for Charlie to share a room with Dig. Dig’s room has carpet.

I have had the itch to set up a school area for a while – somewhere to corral all of the craft and school supplies and books galore. So after a day (with tears and frustration, maybe pms had something to do with it) of trying to fit the crib and Charlie’s clothes into Dig’s room, I started priming the new “School Room.” It was brown with a green wall, but I want it to be light and bright in there. The green wall is staying, it’s mild, but the rest will be white.

I have had a few ideas on decorating the room with ABC art, and stumbled across this a few moments ago:

and this:

from Apartment Therapy.

I have been regularly looking at Apartment Therapy because of their great diy ideas on living and decorating in small spaces. At 1544 sq ft, our house is by no means tiny, but all of our rooms are compact with virtually no closet space.

I’m very excited about the school room, and hopefully the boys will get used to sleeping in the same room soon…
